Washing Instructions Label Draws Criticism — And Laughs [AUDIO]
Their apology was:
The message is simply, instead of washing it the wrong way, you might as well give it to a lady because they are more capable.
I'm sure feminists everywhere wouldn't call that an apology...more like a re-phrase.
On the heels of International Women's Day, the tweet that exposed the label was pretty ill-timed.
Oh and March is Women's History Month.
Now...I'm all for women's lib. I'm a Gen-X'er who has always been taught I could be anything, regardless of my gender (though I think "father" is one thing I just can't do...). I FULLY support equal pay for equal work, and trust me, being a woman in the media certainly still comes with its challenges.
This being said -- and please stop short of slashing my tires or stoning me to death -- I found the label completely hysterical, tongue-in-cheek, and funny. I was terrified my saying this would unleash a littany of "you hate your fellow sisters" comments, but I was pleasantly surprised when you came through with similar "It's FUNNY" comments! :)
From the Mix 96 text line (716-241-9696):
About the washing instructions. ....my husband has broken 3 washers. ..ruined countless clothes. ...the label should read....warning do not let men attempt to wash...warenty does not cover men's laundry mistakes
Men do household chores bad on purpose so women won't let them... Wake up ladies.
Bahahaha!!! LD I almost blew coffee out of my nose! I think the instructions are HYSTERICAL!!!!
And your calls...even more funny!
Thank you for not shooting the messenger!!! :)
