Well last night, unfortunately, those warnings became reality...

A two-story barn in Chautauqua County was destroyed in Thursday’s severe weather.

The Town of Portland highway superintendent said that the incident happened on Barns Road, and the roof of the barn next to it was also taken off. As of now, we aren't sure whether the damage was caused by a tornado or straight-line winds.

All of Western New York yesterday was placed under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch by the National Weather Service.

Buffalo metro and the areas to the north received mainly rain with an occasional rumble of thunder, but Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties bore the brunt of the Severe Weather.

From about 4 in the afternoon through 9, last night areas to our south experienced a series of warnings, that ranged from Tornado to Severe Thunderstorm Warnings as well as Flash Flood Warnings.

Residents reported trees down, property damage from wind, flooded roadways, and backyards.

At one point Channel 4's Chief Meteorologist Todd Santos was hard-pressed to keep up with it all.  The 4 and 5 pm newscasts became live updates as the severe weather threats changed from what seemed minute-to-minute.

WIVB-TV collected a gallery of photos from viewers showing the impact from the weather that you can check out here.
