Game of Thrones employs the occasional subterfuge to thwart spoilers. HBO even hinted at multiple Season 8 endings for exactly that purpose, but a new report suggests not only that cast aren’t certain which ending will air, but also that HBO wants them quiet on social media.

Bear in mind that Game of Thrones issues numerous false flags to throw off spoiler-hounds, as well that star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau doubted HBO would pay for production costs of multiple endings. All the same, star Emilia Clarke spoke to The Telegraph of producers’ secrecy efforts, noting that not even cast know which scenes they shoot are real (h/t Inquisitr):

They’ve written a number of different endings. So none of the cast know what the actual ending is. If there’s ever a leak of any kind, don’t believe it because it’s probably not true.

We’d doubt if actors weren’t given some indication of how their performances actually end, but others claim HBO’s spoiler-proofing has even denied the cast actual scripts. Clarke didn’t acknowledge any such drastic measures, but did reveal “We have a very strict social media ban this year because people need to stop spoiling it for everyone. It’s really frustrating.”

Filming will reportedly take place until summer of next year (thereby denying us a 2018 premiere), but will Game of Thrones successfully keep its Song of Ice and Fire ending under wraps?
