You may want to double-check your breakfast menu this morning.

On Saturday, September 2nd, Hillshire Farms issued a massive recall that could impact your Sunday breakfast.

According to the USDA, the recall from Hillshire Farms includes over 15,000 pounds of blended meat and poultry smoked sausage products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically bone fragments.

The recall is for ready-to-eat blended smoked sausage items that were produced on June 14th, 2023.

The following products are subject to recall according to the USDA.

  • 14-oz. cryovac package containing one rope of "HILLSHIRE FARM SMOKED SAUSAGE MADE WITH PORK, TURKEY, BEEF" with lot codes in the form of the establishment number, line number and time of production in hours:minutes:seconds, "EST. 756A 20 19:00:00 through 21:59:59 and EST. 756A 21 19:00:00 through 21:59:59" and use by date of "Nov 11 23" printed on the front of the package.

Besides being shipped to New York, the sausage was also shipped and sold in California, Maryland, New Mexico, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

The USDA received one complaint about the product that resulted in a jaw injury.

Officials are urging consumers who have purchased these products and have not consumed them to return them or throw them out.
