It’s a very special celebration for Flag Day, and Russell Salvatore wants you to be part of it.

It was only three months ago when a twenty-year-old vandalized the Russell Salvatore’s Patriots and Heroes Park in Williamsville.

Photos from the day of the vandalism really account for the full extent of the damages, including broken lights and graffiti on the memorials. Some of those memorials were partially reduced to rubble and shattered glass.

Salvatore ended up not pressing charges on the young boy to “give him another chance,” but the act of vandalism was a tragedy in Western New York and broke all of our hearts, especially with it occurring only 24 hours after the community began mourning the loss of Buffalo firefighter Jason Arno on March 1.

Russell Salvatore promised to build it back “bigger and better,” and although the estimated cost to do so was $400,000, the 90-year-old is a man of his word.

Salvatore shared the news of the huge tribute he has planned for Wednesday, June 14 – also known as Flag Day.

On Wednesday June 14th, Flag Day I will be hosting a huge tribute. Media, law enforcement , American Patriots and military personnel will be here, joining me as we celebrate our great Country. And I want to make sure you know that EVERYONE is invited. We will be starting at noon that day, hope you can make it.”

To make it more special, Russell extended an invitation for the community to join him for dinner this week.

Starting MONDAY JUNE 12TH UNTIL THURSDAY JUNE 15TH I’M OFFERING BUY ONE DINNER GET ONE DINNER FOR FREE. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED AND TABLE SIZE IS LIMITED TO PARTIES OF 4 OR LESS.”

Salvatore has always given back to our community, and this will be a special moment to celebrate our great country.
