Summertime if the 716 is really a special time.

Because of our long and cold winters, you can often find the average Buffalonian planning to do all kinds of things when the warmer weather rolls around. Especially since we typically have less than 4 months of warmer weather, it's often very important to find fun things to do and do as many of them as possible.

Being that Western New York is a pretty big area, there are tons of places to go and things to do when you are in different areas of the region.

If you just happen to find yourself downtown during this summer, here are a few things that you can take the time to check out.

Being that we have such an amazing waterfront on the Great Lakes, one of the best things to do in Downtown is checking out Buffalo directly from the water. Between the Miss Buffalo, The Spirit of Buffalo, Buffalo River Tours, The Big Kahuna, and the Buffalo Water Taxi, there are all sorts of ways to take the Lake Erie and the Buffalo River to see why Buffalo is such a great city.

Take In A Bisons Baseball Game

Sometimes it's hard to realize it, since it's right in our backyard, but we have a gem of a baseball stadium right in Downtown Buffalo with Sahlen Field. One of the largest in Minor League Baseball, Sahlen Field was an example for many ballparks that are now open in the Major's. Take some time to catch the Bisons on the field.

Check Out Some Nature

While this is technically just outside of downtown, Buffalo has a world class nature preserve right over the Skyway on the Outer Harbor with the Tifft Nature Preserve. Named for George Washington Tifft, this nearly 300-acre nature refuge dedicated to conservation and environmental education and is in fact one of the largest in New York State.

These are just a few great things to do in Downtown - so next time you find yourself in the city center, you should check a few of these things out.
