This is the month that most schools in Western New York will wrap up the school year and head into summer vacation.

Along with the end of the school year comes the graduation ceremonies for area high schools. I am looking forward to it as my son Avry is graduating from Frontier High School.

The only thing that is a bit of an issue is the ceremony. My son's graduation ceremony is happening at Shea's in Downtown Buffalo on a Tuesday Night at 7:30 pm.

While I love Shea's and all the amazing shows they offer every year, I don't think there is a need to have a high school graduation ceremony there.

For a lot of families, they want to have the whole family there and it can be hard for Grandpa and Grandma to make the trip downtown, at night, on a Tuesday.

In my opinion, it would be better to have the ceremony at the High School Why not have it in the aud or on the Football field on a weekend afternoon? More people could come to see the ceremony and people wouldn't have to worry about rushing home from work on a Tuesday to drive right back downtown to go to Shea's.

I graduated from West Seneca East Senior High in 1995 and I think our ceremony was held at the school. It just makes so much more sense not only for the kids but the families as well.

If there is a school administrator or teacher out there that has a reason why the ceremony is held somewhere else than the school, please let me know.

While I am excited to see my son walk across the stage, I am not excited to have to drive downtown to do it.
