There's breaking news on Thursday afternoon in Cheektowaga.

According to Erie Co. Blotter, Harlem Road in Cheektowaga near the Cleveland Hill area is currently closed with reports of a down police officer. Four people are reportedly in custody and there's still a very large police presence right now.

WIVB is now reporting that the officer was knocked unconscious and taken to ECMC.

Buffalo Police Captain Jeff Rinaldo says police officers tried to stop a car and the car hit a utility pole, which came crashing down on the officer's vehicle.

Hopefully, the officer is okay and we get a further update on his condition.

This comes on the heels of a shooting that took place in Niagara Falls this morning. One employee fatally shot another employee at Niagara Metal on Packard Road just after 8 am this morning, and fled the scene.

As of this afternoon, WIVB is reporting that the suspect, 35-year-old Matthew H. Figura Jr, was caught in Wyoming County and is currently in police custody.
