Initially it looks as though this system will bring a couple inches of snow by morning. For areas south of Buffalo, snowfall accumulations will be reduced by a switch to sleet and freezing rain. A period of rain showers are possible mainly south of Buffalo during Thursday. It appears as though mainly snow will fall for much of the day across Niagara-Orleans, there maybe just a little mixing at times there. The precipitation will lighten up for a while during the day.
Mixed precipitation will change back to all snow and increase in intensity by Friday morning as a new storm develops. As colder air deepens, some lake enhancement will take place north and south of the metro Friday.
WEDNESDAY: Colder with a Brisk AM Wind Chill, Clouds Thin, High: 27-32
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Snow develops early evening and spreads rapidly northward, mixing with sleet and freezing rain from south to the metro by morning, Mainly snow for the Lake Ontario counties, 2-3″ by am metro, 1-2″ south, Low: 23-28.
THURSDAY: A mix of sleet and freezing rain with even some rain mixing in at times especially south of Buffalo. Mainly snow with a little mixed precipitation for Niagara-Orleans. The precip may become intermittent for a while. High: 34.
FRIDAY: Snow, and some Localized Lake Effect Snow especially toward ski country, and perhaps off Lake Ontario north of Buffalo, the snow could become heavy at times in lake enhanced areas, Colder, High: 28,
